MEET OUR LEAD PASTOR


Reverend Jean Smarth Lacombe 

Born into a Christian family living in the city of Cavaillon, Reverend Jean Smarth Lacombe accepted Jesus as his savior when he was 7 years old. After being baptized by immersion in 1984, he dedicated his whole life entirely to God.

Enrolled for primary education at the Baptist Evangelical School in Cavaillon , he successively attended both The Sion High School in Les Cayes and the Etzer Vilaire High School in Delmas, Port au Prince to be able to complete his secondary education in 1992.

Pursuing with higher education, he first studied electronic communication engineering at the ISRDT (Institute for Advanced Technological Research and Development) in Port au Prince, Haiti from 1992 to 1997 and got a degree in Sciences in 2006, while also attending the Decentralized Lumiere Bible Institute within the MEBSH (Southern Baptist Evangelical Mission) to get biblical and theological training, from 1996 to 2000. He then registered at the STEP (Evangelical Theology Seminary) in Port au Prince where he graduated in 2007, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology Science. He eventually earned a Master in divinity from the UCNH (Haiti Northern Christian University) in 2014.
Married to Marie Ginette Mérisier Lacombe, he has three sons. From 2003 to 2010, he was active in the ministry as assistant Pastor of the Baptist Bellevue Salem Church in Delmas 24, Port au Prince. He was then appointed as a Pastor to the MEBSH Church of Leogane, Haiti where he ministered from 2010 to 2015. In the meantime, he was assigned by the MEBSH (Southern Baptist Evangelical Mission) to the position of chaplain and presenter of such radio programs as Spiritual encounter, or Mid-day prayer, A voice in the night, Testimonies. Moreover, from 2010 to 2015, he also served as spiritual counselor at Radio-Tele Lumiere.

Reverend Lacombe worked as a teacher at the IBLD (Decentralized Lumiere Bible Institute) within the Bellevue Salem Center from 2010 to 2014, while also teaching Christian Education at the Nursing Department of the MEBSH Lumiere University in Haiti from 2011 to 2015. Moreover, from 2012 to 2014, he also taught Church Administration and Service at the IBLR (Resident Lumiere Bible Institue) in Cite Lumiere, Les Cayes. He also served as a Bible and Theology teacher at the Lumiere University Department of Theology, in Les Cayes, Haiti from 2013 to 2015.
